Serving Challenged Equestrians in the Seacoast since 1989 |
|
Volunteer Information: Volunteers are in invaluable part of the therapeutic team! Each challenged equestrian requires the assistance of at least three volunteers in order to assure their safety during the lesson program and an effective treatment for each rider. Volunteers participate as leaders responsible for the horse and /or as sidewalkers responsible for the rider's position and balance. Other volunteers also help the rider work on activities that meet the treatment needs. No prior experience is necessary and volunteers can determine the amount of time they have available for the program. All volunteers should be 15 years or older to work directly with the horses and clients although we welcome those 12 or older especially during our summer session. The Therapeutic Riding Program would not be able to operate without the dedication and time of hundreds of volunteers.
